Description
This course is for absolute beginners who want to get started playing the Dilruba, Esraj, Tar Shehnai, and or the Taus. This course covers all the basics from how to tune the main playing strings, the sympathetic strings, and even the frets! How to remove and replace broken strings! A Demonstration of the various ways to hold and sit with the instrument. How to position and maneuver the left hand. How to hold the Bow. How to apply rosin to your Bow. Differences between the different styles of bows and bowing exercises. Tips for maintaining and caring for the instrument. How to clean your instrument and what tools you will need for the upkeep. An explanation of SARGAM (the notes on the instrument). Demonstration and breakdown of ascending and descending up and down the neck. A Sargam exercise including a finger technique!
